Add a Pond, or Beautify the Pond That’s Already There

A healthy pond is one of the best investments you can make to your acreage. Stock your pond with tilapia, if you live in a warmer climate or other fish if you live further north. Make sure that the pond is healthy by adding a pond aerator, to infuse the water with oxygen and enable fish and healthy plants to grow.

When your pond water has sufficient oxygen, then the unhealthy, anaerobic bacteria can’t multiply, meaning your pond water will remain clear and pleasant. You can get an aerator or a fountain to beautify your pond through pond aerators and fountains.

Add Fruit Trees to Your Property

Fruit trees not only provide you with your own fresh fruit, but they look beautiful in the spring. Almond and cherry trees have gorgeous pink blossoms that make your acreage attractive. Plant your bare-root fruit tree in a deep trench and add plenty of dead leaves or other acidic matter to make the earth the type of soil that fruit trees prefer. Mulch them in the fall with dead leaves to keep their roots warm and to keep the soil acidic.

Although they’re called tiles, they’re actually PVC pipes that are buried underground and that collect the water and then direct it away from your land either into a creek or your own pond. It will keep your soil and the plants on your property healthy.

Add Fencing to Your Property

Good fencing is an excellent investment for any property. Most people who live in the country enjoy keeping chickens or other livestock. A good fence will keep those animals in and predators such as coyotes or stray dogs out. If you plan on keeping goats or sheep on your property, then good fencing is a must and will increase the value of your property.
